22 February 2010 PROPOSAL DEADLINE HAS PASSED. The deadline for submitting a proposal for the 2010 conference at Reed College has passed. However, if you are interested in serving as a chair or discussant, it may still be possible to be considered. Write to Executive Co-Director Elizabeth Markovits, who is chairing the Chairs and Discussants Committee. She can be reached at the email address HERE.
20 January 2010 APPEAL CONCERNING USE OF THE "IMPACT FACTOR" IN JOURNAL ACQUISITIONS. Wendy Brown and Ann Norton, acting as members of the Political Theory editorial board, have asked to share with the membership a letter concerning the increasing use of the "impact factor" metric in journal acquisitions, the problems use of this metric poses for political theory, and ways to begin to address those problems. Click here for a copy of their letter. The Association hopes to put together a blog on which members may discuss this issue, either here on the APT website or on a linked site.
17 December 2009 PROGRAM COMMITTEE APPOINTED. The Association announces the appointment of the Program Committee for the 2010 conference at Reed College. Co-chairing the committee will be Dustin Howes of Louisiana State University and Keally McBride of the University of San Francisco. Full membership of the committee is listed on the Current Committees page.
11 November 2009 POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT - CLASSICS IN CONTEMPORARY PERSPECTIVES. The Classics in Contemporary Perspectives Initiative at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship from scholars from a wide range of disciplines whose research interests intersect with projects and topics in ongoing CCP research and teaching. 28 October 2009 CONFERENCE NEWS. The 2008 conference at Texas A&M University was another success. Full information about conference events will be posted as soon as it is available. The winter edition of The APT Newsletter will contain lots of news about conference events.
28 October 2009 LISA ELLIS ELECTED TO THE GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE. At the 2008 Business Meeting, members elected Lisa Ellis of the Texas A&M Political Science Department to be an at-large member of the Governance Committee. Her term will be three years, and she will be able to stand for election one more time. She replaces Darren Walhof of Grand Valley State University, who had served on the Governance Committee since 2005. Thanks to Darren for his service, and welcome to Lisa!

CONSTITUTION AMENDED. The membership attending the Business Meeting also voted to amend the Association's Constitution, increasing the size of the Governance Committee by splitting the office of Secretary-Treasurer into two offices, Treasurer and Secretary, and adding two appointed offices, Newsletter Editor and Webmaster. The latter two will be non-voting members of the Governance Committee and will be appointed annually to one-year renewable terms. These changes, which will take effect in the fall of 2010, will be explained in more detail in the Business Meeting minutes.

2010 CONFERENCE DATES ANNOUNCED. Tamara Metz of Reed College announced that the 2010 conference will take place at Reed in Portland, Oregon, , 21-23 October 2010.
